This One Detroit report came out of a community meeting in partnership with the Community Development Advocates of Detroit (CDAD) held in Islandview where several residents discussed gun violence. While the national conversation is often focused on kids being afraid of their safety at school, a lot of the Islandview kids are worried about getting too and from school. The annual Silence the Violence March Against Gun Violence is one way in trying to engage the community in this conversation.
